All applicants are considered for financial assistance. No additional form or application is required to apply for financial assistance from the department.
Teaching Assistantships (TAs)
We offer several teaching assistantships each year, which includes a monthly stipend and tuition waiver. To qualify, one must have good GRE scores and grades, and have an excellent, demonstrated proficiency in spoken English language.
Research Assistantships (RAs)
Many of our students receive a research assistantship directly from our faculty members. The RA includes a stipend and tuition waiver, and is funded from a research grant awarded to faculty. Please contact professors directly about RA funding opportunities.
The department offers a research assistantship to applicants on a competitive basis.
Integrative Graduate Education & Research Traineeships (IGERT)
An OSU program to facilitate study of Life Below the Earth's Surface. This program was designed for graduate students who are interested in combining the disciplines of Engineering, Oceanography, Microbiology, Chemistry, Geology, and Agriculture. The program typically funds 10 Ph.D. students per year; f irst year student support is a $27,500 stipend, tuition and some research and travel expenses. Scholarships
A variety of scholarships are offered on a competition basis after 1 year of graduate work.
