Microbiology Major Checklist
Majors in microbiology must have a minimum of 36 credits in upper division microbiology with a minimum grade point average of 2.0. Students must take MB 302, 303, 310, 311, and 312.
After completing these required courses, 22 more hours of upper division microbiology are required, 2 of these hours must come from a 400 level laboratory class. Research (401), reading and conference (405), thesis (403) and internship (410) cannot account for more than 3 of the 36 required hours and teaching experience (406) can account for 3 additional hours.
Any additional hours in these areas will count as elective credit. All required science courses (MTH 251 and 252, CH 221, 222, 223, 331, 332, and 337, PH 201, 202, and 203, BB 450 and 451 and BI 211, 212, 213and 314) must be taken for a grade.
CH 324 can be S/U but not if student wants chemistry minor. BOT 350 (introduction to Plant Pathology) and BOT 461 (Mycology) may count towards the 22 hours of microbiology. Both are taught fall quarter.
